Starting to feel better!

After her worst illness to date, Kayla is acting like her normal self again (unfortunately mom now has what Kayla had :( ). I have been waiting FOREVER for these glasses to fit and she will actually leave them on for a few seconds :) The little stick in her mouth came with a set of musical instruments that she got for x-mas. While she puts MANY things in her mouth these days, this one seems to be a fav - go figure. At least twice a day, I'll see her crawling around with this stripped stick sticking out of her mouth.

She is almost completely healed from her WORST diaper rash EVER! Last friday we had to go to the doctor (our first non-well visit). But, the day after the appoinment she got really sick. This is the first time she has been sick where it really changed her personality. It felt like she cried for 3 days straight. We didn't do any of our activities this week, but luckily the weather has been really warm, so the last two days we went for walks. Today, mom did not feel well enough for walking but Kayla probably could have used it! Her nose is still running but it at least it now feels like ever other cold she has had. Then, this white spot showed up her tongue and kept getting worse. When I called the nurse, she thought it might be thrush, which I have been really trying to avoid (if your child gets it, your breasts get it and you have to clean EVERYTHING the baby touches). Well, that turned out to be just a soar of some sort and not thrush - yay!

At her appointment, she weighed in at 18 lb 3.5 oz with a full diaper. So she is officially tiny-tini and her weight is in the 15% percentile! (it was 30th at her 9 month appointment and 50th at her 6 month - remember those beach shots?) The doctor is not concerned so I'm trying to to be but it is hard not to try to push a little more food at each meal.

Speaking of which - she is liking "real people" food a lot. There are definitely days where she will only eat baby mush but she loves eating things that come from our plates. She is gobbling up sweet potatoes fries that I made for her. She is "talking" alot more. We thought that yesterday she was actually calling Jose "da-da" but I don't think it is quite there yet :)

Jose has been working a ton lately. Yesterday, she was pulling clothes out of the hamper (as she often does to "help" mom). She grabbed one of Jose's boxers and wouldn't let go of them. She took them everywhere with her and occassionly, she would snuggle up to them and lay her head on them. Okay, if you ignore the fact that they were underwear - it was very sweet.

She is getting closer to consistently waving, clapping, high-fiving, and raising her arms for (so-big). My mission is to get them on tape this weekend!
